Ice Syrup Salad Dressing Recipe

Ice Syrup Salad
Ingredients
1/2 cup Olive Oil – 1 tbsp Cabernet Franc Ice Syrup – 1 tbsp Balsamic – 1 Small Shallot, finely diced – 4-5 cups Mixed Greens – Salt & Pepper to taste – Goat Cheese – Toasted Nuts – Raspberries – Strawberries – Blueberries
Preparation
Whisk olive oil, Cabernet Franc Ice Syrup, Balsamic, and Shallots together. Toss salad with your favorite greens (mesclum, baby spinach), raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries (or a combination of any of those three), goat cheese, and toasted nuts (pine nuts, walnuts, or pecan pieces). Drizzle the dressing on the salad. Makes 4 servings.
NOTE: You may also substitute the Cabernet Franc Ice Syrup for Vidal Ice Syrup and toss salad with ripened pair slices and crumbled blue cheese as seen in picture above.
Ice Syrup – Let me count the ways!

Ice Syrup
There are many ways in which both Vidal Ice Syrup and Cabernet Franc Ice Syrup may be used. Drizzle on certain cheeses, ice cream, crepes, sauté with mushrooms, or use as a glaze with meats (lamb, elk, venison, salmon and steak). The possibilities are endless!
I think that it’s a wonderful product and can be used in a variety of ways, from baking to food preparation. I look forward to its uniqueness and quality, not to mention that it is a great Canadian product. – Mark McEwan, Celebrity Chef

Hooray! It’s the long weekend. Good times to be had by all. For fun, we suggest putting together a spread full of great foods to graze on all day with your favourite cold beverage.
How ’bout showcasing lovely cheeses like Brillat-Savarin, Stonetown’s Homecoming, and On the Dark Side of the Moo? Add artisan salami, tasty crackers, one or two of Herma’s Signature Products, and your favourite antipasto. This will set the stage for a memorable weekend.
Cathy is also putting together containers with cheese, crackers, and charcuterie for those that want a lovely snack for on-the-go. It’s summertime! Share with a friend by the lake or in a park setting.
Featured Cheeses
Mimolette
If you are looking for a memorable, unique cheese, then look no further. It is often used for entertaining as it looks great and pairs well with beer. Its bright, orange color comes from the annatto plant. Very creative looking when shaved. Pretty on salads and is delicious eaten with apples and pears. Many great chefs use it for its nutty and buttery underlying taste
Tomme Marc de Raisin

Tomme Marc de Raisin
This fermier cheese is a cow’s milk cheese that is aged under a thick layer of grape marc – which is the residue left after the fruit is used to make wine. The taste of the marc permeates through to the heart of the cheese making the flavour fruity with a very slight sharpness and pleasant earthiness. Very pretty on a platter and delicious paired with fruity, full-bodied wines.
Date & Walnut Cake for Cheese Pairing

Date & Walnut Cake
These special cakes are a tasty and unique addition to any cheese platter. Pairing a slice of this cake with a sharp cheese creates a wonderful balance of flavours and will be sure to impress. Find in the cheese boutique.
Manoucher’s Persian Noon Bread

Manoucher
This is a flour dusted loaf infused with a savoury blend of basil and sheep’s milk cheese. It makes an ideal sandwich bread as the loaf will fold neatly over its contents. Try it with our charcuterie and a thin slice of cheese. Delicious!
Thanks Dotty!
Big Thanks to Dotty, creator of Saucy Dotty Gourmet Sauces, for joining us in our studio last weekend. We loved introducing her gourmet sauce to our customers and are excited to offer this tasty sauce in our store on a continual basis. It may be used as a dipping sauce for chicken, on a pizza as a topping, in stir fry, and sautéed with meatballs.
We hope to see you as you prepare for your exciting long weekend! Please note that we are open all weekend. This includes Monday. Best wishes for special memory-making moments.
Sincerely,
